FAQs About Medicare Insurance
I am 65 or older and have health insurance through an employer/former employer do I need to enroll in Medicare?
There is no simple answer, but a person in this situation will find that this is where our experience most is valuable to them. We will compare other insurance vs. Medicare to help determine the right decision for you. We meet with prospective clients annually to evaluate their coverage to uncover their most cost-effective path of coverage whether the coverage is through Medicare or an employer. ALL AT NO COST TO YOU.
I have Medicare and a Medicare Supplement, why do I need an agent?
In the state of Illinois Medicare Supplements are standardized, meaning Plan A coverage with one company is the same coverage as Plan A with another company. One of the few differences between the companies is cost. As the Medicare Supplement market changes, we periodically review our client’s policies to ensure that they have the most competitive rate possible. We highly recommend that all Medicare Supplement consumers periodically compare the competitiveness of the rate of their Medicare Supplement. Even as a prospective client, we would be happy to do this work for you.
How often do I receive an explanation of benefits from Medicare?
Explanation of benefits (EOBs) are mailed to Medicare beneficiaries quarterly. If you need a EOB from Medicare you can call 1 (800) MEDICARE and request a specific EOB. You can create a log-in on MyMedicare.gov to have access to Medicare claims as they are processed. MyMedicare.govalso provides the status of preventative care that is provided for Medicare beneficiaries not subject to deductibles, co-pays or co-insurance.
What is the difference between Medicare Part B Premium and Medicare Part B Deductible?
Medicare Part B premium is the annual amount you pay for your Medicare Part B coverage set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Whereas, the Medicare Part B Deductible is an amount paid for Part B services before Medicare pays. After the deductible, the amount Medicare pays is generally 80%.
What is the Medicare Part B Deductible for this year?
For 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has set the Annual Medicare Part B Deductible at $198.
